The book that I read was The Ball Is Round ( A Global History of Soccer) by David Goldblatt. This book was mainly about how soccer is looked at all over the world and how it fits with there culture. It first says that it begins in 2000 BCE, with the Egyptians as they use to kick a sphere ball for fun. After that the English were the first once to actually call it football and make rules for it and made it public to the world. Every chapter is about a different region in the world and how they played football. Sometimes in the chapter they would have like stories about important soccer games that happened in that region, and its very interesting because some of them I could relate to because I have seen some of those games.
I liked this book because first of all its all about soccer and I love soccer as it is. So knowing about soccer's past and what may happen in the future is very interesting to me. Also it talks about the different regions in the world with soccer. Knowing that is very interesting because I never knew that there was different problems with soccer that combined politics or mafia or gambling. That is why i liked this book and I recommend it to any soccer players in this school to read it.

High School Sports Drug Testing Essay
High School sports to some people are very important to them because it can get them into a good college or they just like playing the sport they like to do. Then some people take High School sports to another level, like take illegal steroids to help them have a better performance. I believe this is wrong in every way, this is why I believe every high school team for every sport should be drug tested at least one during there season. This is fair to the team and to every school that they play against. Just knowing that every school has had to go through a drug test would make me feel better playing the sport I like to play. We all know that every sport doesn’t need steroids for you to be good at such as golf, ping pong, or skiing. There are some people in the United States that I'm sure are taking steroids. Not just at the high school level, even at college level and professional lever to.
According to the Chicago Tribune the Illinois High School Association may pass new legislation that would force anywhere from 700 to 1,000 student-athletes to submit to random drug testing at any time during their playing season and off-season. The drug-testing program began last fall in Illinois and has since tested some 400 students would extend to postseason testing for 25 percent of Illinois high schools under the new law. While the notion of testing for anabolic steroids and stimulants isn’t an altogether new proposal for the IHSA, this new legislation would allow more frequent testing to more students and would also receive state funding. this new legislation would allow more frequent testing to more students and would also receive state funding.
That it is mandatory to drug test of high school students not just for health but for their own health. While mandatory testing of high school athletes may be challenging and costly, the price of ignoring the problem could be even higher. In Robert Lipsyte article he introduces to a kid named David who has been using enhancement drugs. David has been taking steroids and his parents, his football coaches, and his high school team wants him to keep taking them, so he could be taking down other football players, and making his team a successful one to victory (para. 2). There are many side effects when it comes to taking steroids. Such as for David his face became bloated and his arms and neck became splotched with acne, signs that he was taking steroids. There is anecdotal evidence of teens committing suicide after quitting steroids.
There are only two sides to high school sports drug testing. One of the two sides of high school sports drug testing is being against drug testing. Many people belief that it is wrong to drug test because one of our cherished civil rights the right to privacy. Another was that a police officer came into a school without a warrant to search people’s backpacks, and sniffing dogs came and they found drugs (”Drug Testing"). Some of the people though that that was unjustified because the police officer didn’t have a warrant to search them. Also the other side of high school sports drug testing is being for it. High school athletes in New Jersey , Texas , and Illinois are tested for steroids and other illegal performance enhancing drugs. So it would be better if teens didn’t know when they would be drug tested. Another season why people are for drug testing is because they think if people are cheating there way to make them self better, they should also get punished for their actions.
In all I still believe there should be drug testing in high school sports. It’s just not the way how sports should be by taking enhancement drugs and killing the sport you play in. Plus I know for a fact if you knew that you would be playing against people that are taking enhancement drugs you would be mad if you lost or would want to rat them out because you know that what they are doing is wrong. This is why there should be drug testing in high school sports to set boundaries on what they can do and what they can’t do.

Like a G6
After researching my topic i have come to a conclusion that I'm for high school sports drug testing. I believe that it is not fair if your working your butt off and you play against a team that is taking enhancement drugs. Its just not right to you and to the sport and to everyone that thinks that your being truth full, but you really are not. This is why if you got nothing to hide, then might as well just take the random drug test.

A state senator has toned down a proposal to randomly test Missouri's high school athletes for steroids because of concerns it would cost too much. They give you examples of what kind of students take steroids like freshman girls. They believe that they should random drug testing people like during playoffs.
Florida, New Jersey and Texas already have passed state laws requiring random drug tests for high school athletes. The Illinois High School Association board on Monday approved random drug testing during postseason play. That policy covers about 95 percent of the state's high schools.

This is a good information that you could use, because it gives you information of how one school is going to run there random drug test. Also what are the consequences are if they fail that drug test. The most important is that more and more schools are starting to drug test kids in extracurricular activites. How they are going to drug test 1 out of 5 people in sports. One good reason why they drug test is that they help them at an early age. So this are why school are drug testing there kids.

The Drug Testing Debate
Espejo, Roman. "Drug Testing." Teen Health and Wellness. Rosen, 2010. Web. 6 Oct. 2010. http://www.teenhealthandwellness.com/article/133/drug-testing.
This article gives you both sides in which are the arguments for drug testing and for against drug testing. It also gives you alot of examples of what they do to drug test of what kind of states drug test in high school sports. Also its perfect for both sides of drug testing because it gives you examples of both.
High school athletes in New Jersey, Texas, and Illinois are tested for steroids and other illegal performance enhancing drugs. These are examples of why people are for drug testing. The U.S. General Accounting Office believes that drug abuse costs the United States $110 billion a year. Alcohol and drug-related automobile crashes are the leading cause of death for high school students.
Now these are exaples of why people are against drug testing. People belive that it is wrong to drug test because one of our cherished civil rights the right to privacy. Another was that a police officer came into a school without a warrant to search peoples backpacks, and sniffing dogs came and they found drugs. Random Drug Tests in US Public Schools.
This article talks about how more schools in the United States are doing random drug testing. They have collected data in spring 2005 from 1612 drug prevention coordinators and they sampled 1922 schools. out of all those schools 205 tested positive. Also the consequences for testing positive they will notifying law enforcement officials, and suspending the student from an athletic team. This fits in with my topic because i believe the schools should be able to random drug test each sport if they wanted to. So i can use this to my advantage or as one of my sources why there should be random drug testing at schools.
